Curtains

Our ready-made curtains are available in a variety of widths, weights and designs, ensuring a look that`s right for any kind of room.  Whether you are looking for the ambience of a sheer organza curtain or the style and functionality of a blockout curtain, at Pillow Talk we have something to meet your needs.

Curtain Headings

We stock curtains with two basic types of heading.  Our tab top and eyelet curtains offer a contemporary look.

Tab Top:

These can only be used with curtain poles. Loops of fabric, either the same or contrasting, are stitched to the top of the curtain. Concealed tab top curtains are sometimes available, where the tab is hidden behind the header and gives a more traditional pleated appearance.

Eyelet:

These are suitable only for use with curtain poles and have a row of eyelets, usually metal, which can vary in diameter. They give a much softer, wider fold.

Curtain Fabric Density

Our curtains come in three grades of fabric denisty, 1 Pass, 2 Pass or Blockout

1 Pass

Also known as sheer curtains are see thru.  They are often used in conjunction  with a heavier curtain on a second track to create privacy or a special mood in a room.

2 Pass

These curtains are a partial blockout curtain.  They do let some light thru but are not as transparent as the 1 pass curtain

Blockout

Also knows as a 3 pass curtain, these let thru no light at all so are ideal for bedrooms and living rooms alike to give complete privacy.

Care Of Your Curtains

  • Hang curtains away from the window pane so they do not come into contact with condensation.
  • Run your fingers along the natural folds of the curtain to tease the pleats into position.
  • Before you clean curtains, loosen the draw-strings and remove hooks, weights and any other metal fittings. Lined curtains should always be dry cleaned.

Washable fabrics

  • Always hand wash when recommended and rinse thoroughly.
  • If you use a powder detergent for hand washing, make sure that it is fully dissolved before putting the fabric in the water.
  • Squeeze the fabric gently and avoid rubbing actions.
  • Treat machine-washable fabrics with care ? never wash or spin them for longer than necessary and do not wash at a higher temperature than recommended.
  • To retain the clarity of dyed and printed fabrics, use a colour care detergent as these have no optical brighteners.
  • After spin drying, the fabric should retain enough moisture to smooth itself out, regain its shape and minimise shrinkage.

Curtain Size Guide

Unless indicated otherwise, our curtains are sold as singles measuring 110 cm wide x 210 cm long.    This is the flat measurement of the curtain.  The total flat width of your curtains should be two times the width of the track or pole.
e.g 180 cm wide window would require 2 x 110cm (220 cm total) wide curtains to cover to produce a little gather and 3 x 110 cm (330cm total) wide curtains to give you a nice full gather.
A 240cm wide window would require 4 x 110 cm (total 440cm) to give you a nice full gather.
