At Home with Pillow Talk | thatstyledhome
If you’re like us, you love watching home tours on TikTok and understanding a little more about the ‘why’ of someone’s styling. We love getting a sneak peek into their thoughts and what makes their home, theirs, from their organisational tips and tricks to the inspiration behind their new artwork. It’s amazing how the same products styled in a new way can completely change their feel.
This beloved peek behind closed doors is why we wanted to bring you the At Home with Pillow Talk series where we take a look in detail into the homes of some of our favourite creators. We wanted to know what makes their homes truly theirs and find out their favourite styling tips and tricks.
We recently collaborated with Rachael from @thatstyledhome and wanted to hear more about her stunning home, and the woman who lives in it! (P.S. there is also an upcoming collaboration so keep your eyes peeled!)
How would you describe your style?
A mix of modern organic, transitional, and a hint of coastal. I enjoy mixing styles together to get a more personalised look.
How has your style evolved over the years?
My style has evolved so much over the years, in part due to buying my first home and developing an interest in interior design and styling. My old style was definitely very basic (with little thought), whereas now I feel like my style is more elevated.
What’s your favourite DIY you’ve done?
My favourite DIY to date would probably have to be our laundry. At the time of writing, I have not yet shared the space, however, this DIY has taught me a lot of new skills and transformed a once dull space.
What inspired you to start sharing the journey of your home?
I initially started my account simply to follow home accounts as my personal Instagram was so full of them, that I wasn’t seeing my friend’s posts. Following my colour selection, I don’t remember specifically what prompted it but I decided to have a go at posting. Eighteen months later, here we are!
What plans are next for your home?
The next plans for my home are to finish the remaining side of the house’s landscaping and to get a built-in TV unit in the recess. The list is seemingly never-ending!
Do you have any tips for people looking to redesign?
My best tips for people looking to redesign, is to start with one room or one piece at a time. Invest in the main pieces of the room and go from there. I love making inspiration or mood boards to get an idea of how a space is going to come together in person.
If you could have any home in the world, what would it be like?
If I could have any home in the world, I would want something luxe but homely. I would want a big kitchen for entertaining and a big backyard with gorgeous, easy-to-maintain gardens. I would also love enough room to comfortably host guests. I have some dreamy spaces saved on Instagram and my personal Pinterest Board.
